Brev til jenta mi :-)
Ja jenta mi nå er det gått atter en måned siden du forlot oss. Men jeg merker din kjærlighet i huset med voldsom kraft. Det første som slo meg etter du ble borte var å selge huset, men nå står det bare klarere og klarere frem at vi skal bo her. Det har blitt en varm atmosfære her som om du har fylt huset med din kjærlighet til meg og den lille mannen. Han er så flink og tapper og vi har ingen problemer med å huske all den fantastiske tiden vi hadde sammen. Vi lar oss selv være triste når savnet er stort, men det går fort over i latter og glede når vi tenker på alt det fine. Vi har solgt hytta, men alt fått en ny. Det blir rart å møte julen uten deg jenta mi, men vi skal være her hjemme så da er du med uansett J

Pusen min nå er det 3 mnd siden du gikk i fra oss og vi tenker på deg hver dag. Jeg har just vært på Verdens Sterkeste Mann på Malta hvor vi forlovet oss 13.9.99 rett føre finalen på Verdens Sterkeste Mann 99. Jeg er glad igjen, og jeg føler at du sender meg styrke når det trengs. Tapet av deg har fått meg til å se ting litt mer i perspektiv.
Rart å se nå hvor enormt stor betydning Strongman har for enkelte, som det hadde det for meg før. Men jeg tror ikke i så stor grad i fra WSM på Malta i 99. Du var nemlig gravid og vi gledet oss noe enormt, kanskje den totale lykke. Jeg kjempet meg tappert mellom kvalifiseringen til tross for matforgiftning. Og du var der for meg mellom de tunge nettene på.....Do lol. Vi endte til slutt på 3 plass og vi var i ekstase J
Jeg tror mye av grunnen til at jeg gjorde det så bra var at det ikke betydde så mye nå som jeg hadde deg. Og det ser jeg veldig nå hvor lite slike ting som en idrettskariere egentlig betyr i det store og det hele.
Hadde jeg kunne bytte alt jeg noensinne har oppnådd i Strongman, og begge beina mot et siste øyeblikk med deg hadde jeg gjort det J Så lite viktig er sånt i det store og det hele. Uten kjærlighet til de rundt oss, og kjærligheten til Herren er vi ikke noe. Kjærligheten er det eneste som betyr noe.

The 2 youngest at the event ! Ole is one of the strongest men/boy in Norway. At only 20 he is fighting at the top of every event he is in. He even started at Viking Power Challenge this year with only 12 houers notis as a reserve.
Sjefen sjøl er også klar Mr.Johnsen. Det var kjempestemmning hele tiden og alle koste seg stort. Du begynner å kunne dette nå Egil :-D Gleder meg til å se Fitness Messa i begynnelsen av neste år !

He had to go to hospital, it took them 70 stitches...

Now it's almost 3 weeks since you left us, and we have to fight every day to stand tall. We miss you so much the both of us. But life must go on and we feel that you are with us. Yesterday we were back in Kristiansand for the first time without you, and it was a tuff thing to do. It brought back a lot of memories. And on our way back we both start crying and had to stop the car and hug. And we had a long talk about you that helped. It was good to see that our little angel could show his feeling. Sometimes it helps to cry, and we got the fighting spirit back. When we came back to Egil & Kikki we did so with a smile around our face. Now you can finally be with your mother and at peace.

Yesterday I had a meeting with my partners in nutrition, PF.
PF has opened a huge brand building in Stokke. They here produce PF nutrition,
has a fantastic gym, etc etc. I will post pix when I go over for a session next time !!!
I find big interest in "meetings" like this........is stimulates good ides into brilliant ??? ides ....

EUROSPORT Super Series Lysekil 2008
Last night I was a guest when Svend did commentary for Super Series Lysekil 2008.
I'm NOT a pro on this I know........wow-it's hard to manage to look at the picture, keep track on the results
and still sound sane !!!! :)
I will do the airing of strongman when Svend is down with operation.
Maybe we have to go further down the Karlsen blood line and bring the mini Viking in as a side kick......!!! :)
To sum up.....new experience is always good !!!

Monday
This is a day of rest, well I do 30 min of Spinning, or walking in the morning.
Then its 5 hours of Dialyse.
In the afternoon I do 20 min abs in the gym.
Tuesday
Hamstring & back
I do 2 kind of legcurl, and for back deadlift and 3-4 other exercises.
And everyday in the gym I finish of with 15 min Treadmill.
Wednesday
Same routin as Monday.
Thursday
Arms
I do 2-3 different exercises for biceps, and same for triceps. By the way, I never count reps or set.
Friday
Legs
This is my hardest day since I have 5 hours of hospital before training.
Squat is the name of the game, I still love it.
Saturday

Hello everybody I think its about time to start to use this blogg again. I will hold a update on my training, diet, and day to day life. Just now I'm up for a coffe and some cardio and abs. And I got the whole house by my self :-)
Danmark Strongest Man 2008
This weekend I went to Danmark together with Svend Alexander to referee
Danmark strongest man 2008. Rene Minkwitz won-again for the 8 time !!!
Kalle Lane from Sweden also compeated.....
Next weekend Rene is reday for Norway and Viking Power Challenge.
Alexander was official time keeper and did a GREAT job !!!
Well-he has been with me since age 12 days-so I guess it rund in his blood.....

This weekend we went to Ålgård. Torkel Ravndal memorial strongman contest.
700 people came to remember the big legend. I got to meet Torkel many times
myself-a big man in many ways !!!
Arild won offcourse-looking good for Storefell. I will not get surprised if we
get a Norwegian winner this year......
After 3 hours delay in the airport in was good to come home to Svend Alexander again.
Again I like to remind you all to come to Storefjell 05.07. It will be a great show !

Norway Strongest Man 2008 will air in TV2 in August. We will get a good air time than.
This is due to Fotball EM the whole June-and July is NOT a good tv month.
We will get higher ratings by put it on in August.
We also have commercial spots avalible for sale for both NSM and VPC.

Jeg fatter ikke helt dere som sier at dere mangler info. ang NSM 2008...????
Hva annet enn tid, sted, billett pris, info tlf nr.dere kan ringe.kan dere trenge ???
Det er lagt ut plakat på iform, treningsforum, denne bloggen, lene's blog, Helene Rask blog,
Kikki skriver om alle utøvere på TF.
Jeg ser at dere også lurer på TV2's info rundt dette-TV2 har aldri laget noe pepp på NSM
før det foreligger noe taper som det lages en promo for sendingen av. Dette går som reklame
spot på TV2 ca 2-4 dager før selve sendingen. TV2 har sendt konkurransen ca 4-5 uker etter selve stevne
avviklingen. Noen eksakt dato foreligger ikke enda fra TV2 sin side.
Jeg avventer mer info ang. God Morgen Norge fredag 23.05. på TV2. Når jeg har dette legger jeg det selvsagt ut.
Det ser ut til at Svend, Odd og Jarek skal i studio fredag morgen før de kommer til Gol.
Selve stevne dagen startet kl.14.00. Portene åpnes ca kl.13.15.men dette avgjør Pers Hotel.
Jeg vet dere kan ringe og bestille billetter på Pers så dere er sikret å få sitteplass. Men fortvil ikke, vi
skal alltids få inn alle-selv om dere mulig må stå......

NSM is around the corner-next weekend we will crown a new Norway Strongest Man 2008.
Will it be the defending champion, Arild Haugen again ??? Will the be the youngest, the eldest ???

Svend Alexander has done a set of stones and tyre flip before school time for a long time now......
The latest now is to do tyre with one hand only.......maybe that will be an event next year ???
Monday we will get an answer from TV2 and God morgen Norge regarding air time Friday next week.

Last Saturday I went with dad to meet with my big "brother" Levan.
Levan plays American football for Oslo Vikings. He is very good.
Levan spent the weekend with me !!!

As you can imagine-reciving among many GREAT Petter Solberg items
from daddy's good friend, Stein Holm today, it felt like X-mas and birthday
for Svend Alexander. As you can see Alexander got the champions shirt from
2003 when his big hero, Petter Solberg won WRC Championship !!!
Alexander has been in internett all day looking for latest results from
Rally Jordan. He alwsys keep track on how the do- Petter and Henning Solberg !
It was a clear choice for Alexander to once again choose Rally Finland as this years summer vacation !
1-3rd of August we all hit the forests in Finland together with Janne Virtanen again.
We had a fantastic time last time we went !!!
Alexander is going to start race himself this autum. ! This Sunday he will go and look
at the arena/racing- field....or whatever they call it in go cart ???!!!

This Sunday myself ,Lene and Egil Berli-Johnsen will be in Skien for the
Norwegian Championship in Powerlifting !!!!
I have to"practise"-today Andy Bolton called me up for a guest app. in
Britain's Powelifting Championship 12-3 July !. I will commentate on TV.
I'm feel so honered they invited me !!! Thank you Andy !!!

IT MADE ME THINK........
Today I started to think........I started to reflect over everyday things that I take for granted normally.....
Yeah -I started to think....
All day I have been asking Svend Alexander to help me lift everything weighing over 50 grams....lift and move
everything for me-since my right hand has got an irritation / infection. I'm totally out of function !!!
Everyday things gets so hard to do !!! And I'm NOT used to be "handicapped" at all !
But than I started to think about my situation and how small that is when all comes to all !!!
Everyting is always rated against something.....meaning-if you are really strong-you are just as strong
as the person you are rated against and that results, you are only as sick as a person that is totally healthy
or a person that is "facing the death ". You are only as kind compared to a guy that is nicer etc etc.
You see where I want with this ????
I think we all-and especially me from time to times, - have to start to focus on what we have,
instead of what we don't have !!!
Have to be more aware of what I am - instead of too much focusing on what, or how I should be like etc.etc.
When I say this, I don't mean that you should stop dreaming - but I mean when it's in a negative way !!!
There is a difference there-but often it's hard to see the difference clearly !!!
Svend is now "sick" compared to when he stood ontop of the podium in 2001-crowned as the new regian
World Strongest Man of this planet !!!!
But he's not sick compared to the poor children in Africa that has NO bright future,
or kidny transplant to look forward too what so ever !!!!!
I had a "big" probleme toady-but not worth mention regarding to a car accident today that so many had to face globally !!!
I guess I just wanted to remind myself that , all in all we are very blessed and lucky with the "situation" we are in end of the day !!!
Like I say-I started to think today.........and I wanted to shard that with you all - use it in a positive way !!!!

ÅSSIDEN KIROPRAKTORSENTER: BENT JACOBSEN !!!
I dag var jeg hos min kiropraktor, Bent Jacobsen ved Åssiden kiropraktorsenter.
Både Svend og jeg bruker Bent "hyppig" i vår del av treningen.
Bent har lang "fartstid" som praktiserende kiropraktor. Han har reddet Svend fra mer et
dårlig stevne resultat. Å få komme hjem privat til kiropraktoren sin kl.23.00 på kvelden
kalles EXTRA service !!!.
Så mye og stor mengde trening som jeg kjører kroppen min gjennom nå-er det
alfa og omega med jevnlig "kontroll" av kroppens bevegelses apparat, nerver og muskler !!!
Ved feil i selve det fysiske bev. apparatet vil man trene og belaste kroppen feil, noe som igjen vil resultere
i skader over en kortere eller lengre periode. Husk at kroppen består av så mye mer enn "bare" muskler, sener og ledd. Nervebaner og nervesystemet vårt er et "skjult" nettverk som må fungere optimalt for et optimalt resultat gitt i resultater. Selv finner jeg anatomi og fysiologi, kost og ernæring utrolig lærerikt og intressant.
jeg vil anbefale dere som trener mye og målrettet til å lese anatomi, fysiologi som en del av den totale tiden dere legger i resultat orientert trening. En mer "komplett" forståelse for kroppens funksjoner vil kunne gi deg et størrre og bedre bilda av hvorfor kroppen reagerer slik den gjør !.
Noen som har hørt om Cortisol ????? Et høyt cortisol-spegl ????.......Hva vil dette gjøre med meg ????
Jeg vil anbefale på det sterkeste, og varmeste en tur til kiropraktoren der du bor !!!
Ikke alle er så heldige å kunne få benytte seg av Bent - men det finnes mange dyktige kiropraktorer i Norges land.
Kan f.eks anbefale Ola Ottem i Kristisansand. Han brukte vi når vi bodde der i 8 år. Meget dyktig mann med stor kunnskap ! Pappa kom seg til og med til Ola etter ca 30 års tid med vond rygg......er ikke farlig vet du !!

EASTER 2008: GOL-HEMSEDAL
This easter Svend Alexander got visit from his best friend, Brage and his dad, Truls
from Kristiansand. We lived next door to Brage, and the two boys started in the same school class.
Svend Alexander misses Brage so much-still !!!
It's amazing-the two boys can play for 48 hours without any questions !!!
Svend took Brage, Truls and Alexander to Gol in Hallindag to visit one of Svend's best
friends, Anders Eidsgaard and his family.

Back training today with the Viking.....
Well-this is how Egil sees me in training......
Today it was back training-no deadlift !!!
Egil told me he was impressed.......don't know what that really means ???!!!
But he says he can see me loosing bodyfat from last time he saw me.....2,5 weeks ago !
I still hold the same weight-but are in better shape now.....finally I can see some results !
I'm getting stronger now-and I tood Odd Haugens advice; Lene you have to start to lift again !!!
I look so forward to the 29th March.......I will eat a lot of candy, sodas and heart attack food.....!!!
Back again on diet and hard training until late August on the 30.03. .........!!!!!

This weekend I went to Warszawa to look at something........
I stayed at Hilton Warszawa-a beautyful hotel with TechnoGym. Spa,Swimming pool etc.
I went to this gym for training-and in the cab back home I just missed a huge
billboard poster with Mariusz, in "Dancing with the stars 2008 Poland ". You see some
of the stars......
Jarek Dymek also took us to a 7 hours Tecno party with 10.000 people indoor in a huge arena
where they in 2004 arr.Europe Strongest Man. In the hall I saw pictures of Jark and Mariusz
from the contest !

Sunday we met with our good friends, Kikki, Egil and Vilja at Peppes Aker Brygge.
It was kind of funny you know....next to our table we got visitors from USA !
I was sitting next to them, and I kind of understood that they were wondering;
"Is that really Svend Karlsen ????". Finally-when we started to talk about
World strongest man one of them kindly asked; Are you Svend Karlsen ???
I have seen you on TV many times back home !!!
The 3 men were, Kirk Parslay, Scott Shannon and Joe Bell.
They were all very polite and friendly !!! They are here in Norway with the
Deep Sub. Unit U.S. Navy.
Nice to meet you guys- you can report back home that The Viking has retired........
Is no longer compeating like it looks like on ESPN. In fact-he's eating more
pizzas these days than training....... :)

God damn......today we all went training at Svend's old gym. The boys went for
shoulders, chest and legs. I pretended I trained shoulders.....
Egil says I have to train heavy !!!!! NOT !. I hate to lift weights !.
Tomorrow morning I think we will hear something else when Egil has
promised me to join in on my morning spinning at 08.30. 1 hour + ABS !!!
Man-it's noise here now-3 strongmen in the house- everybody playing guitar and singing.
And let me remind you people-there's NO alcohol what so ever......
But we have so much fun......talk so much shit about all of you guys....... :)

As you all know my last 9 years has been about strongman, strongman and strongman...
I will stil do Norway Strongest Man and Viking Power Challenge this year together with Svend.
But from August I will step aside-and let the man who made it all come true for all of us, Svend Karlsen,
do everything around strongman in Norway. I will still work for Super Series when ever they need me, and travel if I get the chance !. I have met so many good friends during my journey-and hope we still can keep in touch !.
Sometimes you have to stop in life and ask yourself if this is what you really want ???
But you know me so well by now-so don't think I will not speak up if something isn't right !!!

Det ble også kontrollert at de lappene som ikke ble trukket inneholdt navn på de andre øvelsene.

We had a fantastic day today. Starting at 2 o'clock - people lined up already at 1 to get the best seats.
I guess 1000 people stood and watched the 8 strongmen compeating in 4 events that was run in 80 minutes-
prize sermony included !.
We like to thank our DREAM TEAM- Egil Berli-Johnsen, Kikki Berli-Johnsen, Vilja, Berli-Johnsen,
GYM2000-Knut Ole, Nils Jørgen, Kristian and Vidar, Helene Rask and Rask Models, Truls Nebell, Ola the data guy !. All other crew members, and of course all athletes !!! You did all GREAT !!!

Svend Alexander was very dissapointed he couldn't do an exh. today......he gets 1000,- Nkr every time he does that..... and he said yesterday; Now I just need 2000,- more and I have money enough to buy myself a laptop to have in my room........I guess his search for naked people isn't over yet.........

Today we went to Oslo TV together with Helene Rask to promote Fitnessmessen
Strongman show Saturday 09.02. at 14-16.
Some of us will be at GYM2000 booth Friday from 16.00.17.00.
We will also be at GYM2000 booth from 12-13 Saturday.

behind me. It's lovely !. This was my 2nd trip to Mohegan-and I LOVE to go back !!!
To answer a question we got; No Mariusz will NOT retire !!! And, NO, Svend will NOT do a comeback !!!

Last year Dave Ostlund was the only man to beat Mariusz in one competition.......
This year it happend in the first Super Series in Mohegan. I doubt it will happen again this year....
Mariusz told me he had almost not been training after WSM 2007. And who cares when you are
4 x World Strongest Man anyway !!!! Mariusz can win any day he wants too !!!
It was great fun in Mohegan-of course it's more fun for everybody when Mariusz don't train.......!

My first training after a looooong time off......
Well people-this is how it used to be....... :)
Summer 2006.
I started my training again yesterday. I used 10 kg. dumbells......today I can hardely scratch my head.........
It's good to start up again !
Everything is going good due to the prep for the transplant !!!
I still spend 15 hours in hospital during the week-but now I don't feel sick at all anymore !
I feel great in fact !!!

New Years resolutions for Lene 2008.........
Every year I always say I will start training-loose weight, and be in more pictures.......
I NEVER manage to do this........
This year I WILL !!!
I will be in "all photos" we do on our trips to document I was alive and up running
the whole time.......I always end up taking pictures of Svend, Svend Alexander or even
fans of Svend and Svend together.......No more !!!
I have also set a goal for myself , starting last October 2007 to loose 17 kg over 2 years......
Now it's official-and I have to do it......
I have lost 8 kg. since last May 2007 and are now currently weighing 59 kg.
I will not stop until I see 50 kg.........
My goal for 2008: Weight: 50 kg. And look 5 years younger.......hi-hi.....:)

Ii was GREAT !!!!
We got picked up in a limo from airport after 9 hours in the plane.
But like we agreed on with Anders Axklo, it's oki to be late -and we might as well cry in a limo instead of a bus.....
I like to start to thank you Ulf, Jesper, Colin and Odd for the great weekend we had together !
You did a fantastic contest-and we always have so much fun !

Trip to Geilo !!!
This weekend Anders Eidsgaard invited me and Rene to Geilo where we drove snowmobil and rallycars !
It was GREAT !. We hade good weekend-played in the snow ( boys will be boys......)-had some Irish coffe-and
told some good old stories from back in rhe days when we were youngs and still sexual active......

Svend Karlsen (right) will be assisting Colin Bryce (left) with the TV at the WSMSS Mohegan Sun Grand Prix later this month. Randall J. Strossen photo. Yes, we both will come over for the weekend: Svend will do TV together with Colin . . . I will just look good. We are very exited about this - it's important that people can see that the Viking is still alive. More than merely alive, the Viking is doing well, as he awaits his kidney transplant, and if you needed one more reason to make it to the Mohegan Sun later this month, now you have it. Actually, this is two more reasons because from what we heard, there was no shortage of guys lined up at last year's World's Strongest Man contest, asking Lene Karlsen to autograph their MILOs. The WSMSS Mohegan Sun Grand Prix is January 19, with a 7:00 pm start time, and tickets are available now. |

Hei alle sammen og Godt Nytt Strongman År 2008 !
LØRDAG 09.02.2008 skal være kvalifisering til NSM 2008.
NSM 2008 går på Gol LØRDAG 24.05.2008. I gaten utenfor PERS Resort Hotel.
Vi skulle KUN ha 10 utøvere til denne kvalifiseringen. + 1 reserver ved skade.
Viking Power Production er enerådig over hvilke utøvere som får delta basert
på tidligere resultater om pågangen er stor. ( Pågangen VAR stor...... )
